2 Day Fruit Cleanse – Done

Over the past two days I did a cleanse that involved eating nothing but fruit. At the beginning of day one I weighed 160lbs. On the beginning of day two I had dropped 2lbs to 158. I lost another .5lbs during the second day finishing the cleanse at 157.5lbs. It was much harder to stick to the diet than I had anticipated (although I did). After the first couple of purely fruit meals, the sweetness was overwhelming. I made a couple of smoothies which helped. And, I ate avocados and tomatoes as well which weren't nearly as sweet as the rest of the fruit. The dates were by far the sweetest and I had a really tough time choking them down after a while. By the end of the second day I was crazily craving regular food--I had never noticed how many food commercials are on TV. My energy levels on day one weren't any different than normal.  But, on day two, I had zero energy at all.  I spent the entire day laying on the couch watching movies (well, that's what I do almost every Sunday, but I had much less energy while doing it).  I think I was probably a little dehydrated as well.  I had a tough time drinking enough water because my stomach felt so full all the time from the fruit.

So, am I "cleansed"? I don't really feel any different than before I started but there's no doubt that my body did expel a considerable amount of substance. I can only hope that some of that was toxins and other unnecessary things.  I would definitely recommend the 2 day fruit diet as a way to jump start a weight-loss program (which was not my intent, I plan to gain back all my lost weight and more).

Here's what I ate over the 2-day period:

  • 7 apples
  • 7 bananas
  • 5 pears
  • 6 avocados
  • 2 cantaloupes
  • 1.5 cups chopped strawberries
  • 1.5 cups blueberries
  • 7 or 8 cherry tomatoes
  • 2 1/4 cups of dates

Meal on day 2

Smoothie

  1. I eat a big fruit smoothie every morning now and try to eat fruit and veggies most of the day. Inspired by Michael Arnstein. I lost weight doing so. I wish I had the will power and discipline to do what he does. Regardless, I feel so much better and can tell a difference when I do not eat my morning smoothie (4xberries, carrots, oranges, pineapple, spinach, banana, apples, tomatoes, pom seeds).
